Tattoo You

Nine Eyes Studio is a dangerous place. One minute you're drinking with friends and enjoying an exhibit in the gallery, the next minute you're sitting in a chair in the adjoining tattoo studio with a Chinese dragon on your arm. Sure, it may have seemed like a good idea when you saw that beautiful painting of a Chinese dragon on the gallery wall, but then you realize A) you're not Chinese, B) your knowledge of Chinese culture mostly consists of things you learned from Rush Hour and Rush Hour 2 and C) you might be stuck wearing long-sleeved shirts to work during hot Texas summers for the rest of your life. That being said, the gallery has hosted some fine exhibitions in the year since it first opened, showcasing a wide variety of local painters, photographers and tattoo artists. This Saturday, Nine Eyes, at Peak and Elm streets, celebrates its first anniversary with an art show, live music and free food and drink. Festivities start at 2 p.m. and continue till midnight.
