The first day of any new year sets the tone for the months to come. For sports fans and college students, that means kick-ass "footbowl" games featuring the best up-and-coming players in the country. An exciting show of talent and testosterone is headed for Dallas' bowl game this year, where the Big 12 North Division Champions, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, take on the No. 9-ranked Auburn Tigers. But the excitement gets under way long before the 10:40 a.m. kickoff. As December 31 is slinking into history, fans crank it up with all-night tailgate celebrations. The NCAA tried to squelch the volume of these tailgating "Cocktail Parties," but traditions hang strong with fans at this year’s 71st AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic.
