Some people confuse modern style with boring style, or, even worse, no style. The lines and shapes, unadorned, don't draw them in as much as more decorative styles do. To those folks, we say, give modern another chance, and start with the works of Linnea Glatt. Subtle, yes; boring, no. The work is simple at heart, but includes enough detail (stitched threads, the texture of paper and canvas, meticulously arranged shadow progressions) to hold the interest of just about anyone. Through With In, a showing of more than 60 drawings, including small-scale suites and a large canvas dyptich, Glatt uses the circular form to convey infinity and completion. Linnea Glatt: With In is on view from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays through January 15, 2011 at the Barry Whistler Gallery, 2909-B Canton St. Admission is free.
