Support the independent voice of Dallas and help keep the future of Dallas Observer free.
Before Slumdog Millionaire and 28 Days Later, Danny Boyle dragged us into Scottish drug addiction with Trainspotting. It's a perfect encapsulation of club life flirting with damnation, but more importantly it proves the Ewan McGregor is still a heart throb when wearing a half-shirt. Plus, it has one of the best soundtracks of any film to date, hands down.
How long has it been since you saw the most disgusting toilet scene ever filmed or watched a whacked-out Ewan hallucinate his way through detox?
Let's revisit the cult classic tonight, on the fabulous Sundown at Granada rooftop. It's the third installment of Mixmaster's joint project with the Dallas Film Society and the Sundown, and yeah, it's completely free. There will be drink specials and comfy couches to sink into while your skin crawls faster than that creepy ceiling baby. The film starts at 8 p.m., but get there early for a good seat and a cocktail.
Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
