There was a time, lovelies, when a fashion show was just that: a show of fashion. There were folding chairs, grindy music of the techno variety, and when it was over, you expounded loudly about how the use of textiles for that season was rife with commentary about geopolitical unrest, then put down your Champagne glass and left. But now, fashion shows are a virtual sensory circus — combining the sartorial with visual arts and music so loud that the pressure’s off to expound on anything. FUTURE: Fashion Art Music is that kind of jam, crafting a full-tilt creative experience at the WAAS Gallery, 2722 Logan St., from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. Friday. Anchored by a runway show curated by L.A.-to-Dallas’ TENOVERSIX Boutique, this event also features installations in the gallery area from WAAS residents Edward Ruiz and Neil Matthiesson, plus the first major show from Dallas gal and painter Patricia Rodriguez. Grindy techo tunes are courtesy of Shuttle, Carbon Community, Ghost Daddies, Trespass and Left/Right. And not only has the future of the fashion show arrived — it’s arrived with free admission.
