Did you cry when Aerith died? Does a giant ostrich sound like a completely reasonable mode of transportation? Do you have any idea what I’m talking about? If so, then you’re undoubtedly a fan of the long-running videogame series Final Fantasy. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra is catering to your specific brand of nerdiness with Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy. For those of you not in the know, these aren’t the kind of video game soundtracks that are pumped out of an eight-bit synth. Picked from more than two decades of sequels and spinoffs, the rich, atmospheric music composed by Nobuo Uematsu and Masashi Hamauzu is fit for any full-length movie. Grammy Award-winning conductor Arnie Roth and Final Fantasy XIV vocalist Susan Calloway take this music from console to concert at 8 pm at the Meyerson Symphony Center. Tickets start at $50.
