Returning for its ninth year, DanceAfrica is ready to get you on your feet dancing! Hosted by the effervescent Baba Chuck Davis, DanceAfrica promises to stimulate the senses with the melodic drum rhythms, the alluring motion of the human body, and the majesty of the ceremonial traditions deeply rooted in African culture. This is one of the few times at a Dallas dance performance that you can actually hoot and holler and let the dancers know that you're having a good time. In fact, it's pretty much a necessity. So clap and cheer and let those dancers know you like what you're seeing. The show features all five of Dallas Black Dance Theatre's performing companies, and rings in their 38th season. See it at 7:30 p.m. Friday or Saturday at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, 2501 Flora Street. Tickets are $25-$40 and available at dbdt.com.
Fri., Sept. 19, 7:30 p.m.; Sat., Sept. 20, 7:30 p.m., 2014
