Chef Kenny Mills of Chop House Burgers in Arlington (1700 W. Park Row Drive) is busy busy BIZ-EE! Last week we reported that he's expanding with a steak and seafood restaurant in Arlington. And today Mills signed a lease for a second Chop House Burgers, this one in Mansfield.
Mills' first job in a restaurant was in 1975 as a busboy and dishwasher. Over the next three decades he worked his way up through several different kitchens and consulting jobs, most recently as chef at The Capital Grille, Sullivan's and the Dallas Chop House.
Then a few years ago, he just got tired of it all. He told Teresa Gubbins he was simply frustrated working with people (there's a Tesar story there too, believe it or not). So, two years ago he quietly opened little burger joint in strip mall central Arlington. However, Guy Fieri of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives quickly followed and then his small burger joint wasn't so small anymore. He's since expanded that space twice.
Mills expects to open Chop House part 2, the Mansfield sequel at 2208 Highway 157 in mid-February and the menu will be exactly the same as the Arlington location, including just over a dozen different kind of burgers.
On another note, Chop House Burger is running a 12/12/12 promotion through next week: $12 for a 12-ounce patty with 12 ingredients: beef, brisket, steak sauce, cheddar cheese, a double portion of thick bacon, sautéed onions, sautéed mushrooms, fried jalapeños, lettuce, tomato, pickle and one sunny-side-up egg.
Who's got this? Let us know. We want pictures and details.
