Oak Cliff People is reporting that Norma Manis, perhaps best known for starting the cafe which bears her name, died this Saturday. Manis opened the first Norma's Cafe in Oak Cliff, but sold the business in 1986 to Ed Murph, who has since opened subsequent locations.
Manis quickly jumped right back into the business. She opened opened up Mama's Daughters' Diner in the same year. There are now five locations of the family business in Dallas, Plano and Lewisville.
Murph issued a statement this morning which noted Manis' passing and her contribution to the Norma's brand, adding "my family and staff will always appreciate what she started."
