This Sunday local restaurants and musicians will team up to raise money to help West recover from last week's deadly fatal fertilizer plant explosion. Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights, The O's, Somebody's Darling and Goodnight will perform, and Toadies front man Vaden Todd Lewis will play a brief set of solo acoustic songs. The event will be from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Annette Strauss Square.
All proceeds from the concert will go into a fund set up by Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT), a nonprofit Dallas-based foundation that partners with different groups to assist in fundraising. From there the money will be distributed to nonprofits "whose missions are to provide basic needs including food, clothing, shelter and counseling services for those affected by the recent events in West, Texas."
For some nibs during the event, Josh Florence of City Tavern, Club Dada and Homegrown Fest is driving down to West Sunday morning to pick up a boatload (we hope) of kolaches, which will be sold for $5 each and all proceeds will go full circle back to West. There will also be an Epic Cones truck, plus regular concessions available. The venue is BYOB. Tickets are $20.
