Organic is everywhere these days--and we don't mean in restaurants. If you attend Organic Day at Northaven Gardens tomorrow (Feb.21,) you can find it in your own backyard. Literally.
At the garden center, Patti Moreno, aka. the Garden Girl, sustainable living expert and host of Garden Girl TV, will fill you in on vegetable gardens, humane pest control, cultivating a green lifestyle, and more...although some of us know you can stomp indiscriminately on bugs and still pick vegetables with a clear conscience.
The Organic Day events schedule is listed below:
11:30 a.m. · Wildlife 911. Bonnie Bradshaw tells how to deter critters such as squirrels, raccoons and armadillos from our gardens and homes humanely.

12:30 p.m. · GardenGirl Patti Moreno's Sustainable Garden. Patti will talk about hip and cool ways to go organic, be kind to the environment, produce more and consume less. She will be available all day to sign her educational DVD's and answer questions.
1:30 p.m. · The Organic Veggie Garden. Victor Peck of the Dallas Zoo talks about bed prep and what to plant in a vegetable garden, and offers all organic solutions. Presumably this means growing for human consumption, as well. Anyway, this is a kid friendly program...although cranky sorts may pick up a few tips to keep kids away from the 11:30 talk.
2:45 p.m.· Preserving and Harvesting Herbs. Kay Nelson talks about the proper way to clip and store herbs from the garden.
Consider it an hour-by-hour journey toward a greener-thumbed, armadillo-free you.
