In case you missed the newly resurrected Green Room's slow-opening, reservation-only summer, tonight's your chance to sample the Deep Ellum eatery's highly touted cuisine--for free. The neighborhood's "Monthly Taste" event starts at 6 p.m. tonight, brought to you by all the abbreviated-associations that matter: DEEP, DECA, DEF and Deep Ellum landlord to end all landlords, Westdale. And hey, we even have heard whispers of what's on the menu tonight: braised lamb croustinis and veggie-stuffed cucumbers.

If the prospect of sampling some of Joel Harloff's truly tasty creations gratis isn't enticing enough, here's the super-bonus: the happy hour tasting will be held up on the restaurant's storied roof deck, which hasn't been open in, oh, about four years by our count. If you haven't yet been charmed by Deep Ellum's community gardening initiative or ongoing mural-painting extravaganza, perhaps you'll find something to love tonight while sampling one of the neighborhood's best restaurants, while checking out what is undoubtedly its best view. The party should go to 9 p.m., so there might even be a sunset in it for you.
