Oddfellows is debuting dinner service next week, but the Oak Cliff restaurant's thus far not revealing what diners will find on the evening menu.

"A nice way to say it is hearty meals with a dessert selection," says co-owner Amy Wallace Cowan.

So, meatloaf? Chicken-fried steak? Not exactly, Cowan says.

"When they told me about it, I thought it was a joke," Cowan says of the kitchen's dinner plans. "But there's a method to the madness."

Cowan offered to send City of Ate a menu -- "When you just explain it, it's like, 'What the heck?'" she says -- but learned late this afternoon her graphic designer wouldn't have a copy available until later in the week.

Oddfellows has hired an additional chef to help staff dinner service, which will be offered every night but Monday.

For eaters eager to get a peek at the menu that initially left Cowan aghast, Oddfellows is serving a preview meal next Tuesday. Tickets are $25, and funds raised from the event will benefit Go Oak Cliff.
