If you attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, subscribe to High Times or frequent The

Gas Pipe, you're well aware that today is the official holiday for devoted fans of Phish and the Grateful Dead, better known as 420. Spend the day hugging your bong and eating "special" brownies, then head to Flying Saucer on the Lake (4821 Bass Pro Drive, Garland) tonight for a 420 party guaranteed to give you a contact high. The annual stoner convention kicks off at 7 p.m., and you'll want to get there early if you're planning on scoring a commemorative 420 glass, which this year features everyone's favorite stoned comedy duo, Cheech and Chong. The glasses might be available longer than the beer will because today's featured draft is the coveted Stone Brewing Co.'s Double Dry Hopped IPA. It might be easier to score an eighth of Northern Lights than a beer tonight.

Of course what a pothead wants most is a substantial meal, something like an extra-large pepperoni pizza and a gallon of Pepsi. Serious Pizza (2807 Elm St.) sympathizes with these stoner cravings, and that's why the restaurant is having a 420 eating competition until close tonight. If you can finish a 30-inch, single-topping pizza (along with a pint of beer) in a hour or less, you'll receive your meal for free, plus a T-shirt and $50 credit for your next visit. If you don't finish the pie, you'll have to pay for your meal, but at least you'll have leftovers for that smoking session tomorrow.
