To prepare for this fall's Best of Dallas® 2012 issue, we're counting down (in no particular order) our 100 Favorite Dishes. If there's a dish you think we need to try, leave it in the comments, or email me.

Dolmas get a bad name because so many pre-made versions are passed off as food at Middle Eastern restaurants. These versions are bland, slimy and have a gummy consistency that borders unsettling. Even if you're not a dolma fan, though, you have to try the version at Pera Turkish Kitchen.

The grape leaves are rolled by hand in the kitchen, and stuffed with rice, pine nuts, currants and onions. In addition to those interesting flavors, the dolmas have a nice texture compared to store bought versions. They really give you something to chew on and they're better than any other version I've had here in Dallas.
