Emil Svanängen's Loney, Dear stops through Denton tonight, as Darryl Smyers' wrote in this week's paper for what should be a hell of a show--and not just because Loney, Dear's become something of an Internet and press darling for his recordings over the past few years.
No, this show actually boasts an impressive amount of clout prior to the headliner, thanks to opening sets scheduled for in-house DC9 favorite Matthew and The Arrogant Sea and another impressive Denton act, Sunnybrook.
Sunnybrook is the project of Paul North--the younger, near-identical brother of Joel North, half of the fabulous Mom duo. Also heavy on the found-sound front, Sunnybrook's what you'd get if you Mom focused less on the experimental realm and more on power of vocal melody. Then again, a good chunk of the latter part of that description stems from the fact that Sunnybrook, unlike Mom, does feature vocals in each of its songs.

Anyway, that's enough selling on this bill, I think. Onto the rub...
The folks at Spune Productions, who put together this Hailey's show, have been kind enough to pass along two free pairs of tickets to DC9 readers interested in attending.
So, first two readers to email me with "Loney and the Arrogant Sunnybrook" in the subject line are each gonna walk with a pair of tickets to tonight's show. Best of luck!
Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winners.
