The results are in from our New York sister paper's annual Pazz + Jop critic's poll, which aggregates the opinions of thousands of music scribes into one, easy-to-peruse list of the best music from the year that was 2009 (or was it 1901?).
In total, some 1,934 albums were nominated for consideration, along with some 2,016 individual songs. Topping them all, though? Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilion in the albums game and Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind" in the singles competition.
Got a few hours? Peruse all the entered data over at the Village Voice-hosted page for the poll--which allows you to check individual voters' ballots and even read a few essays on what it all means, if anything.
