Christmas Week is not normally the busiest of times as far as concerts go but, tonight, the Lakewood Bar & Grill is hosting a nice trio of singer/songwriters.

Headlining is Heather Morgan, a transplanted Dallasite who now hails out of Nashville. Morgan's brand of down to earth country certainly belies her nice looks, as she is capable of delivering the Americana goods in a variety of guises. Songs such as "Aisle 5" and "Tired of Running" may lean a bit too far towards the inherent slickness of her new home, but Morgan's reedy, clear voice saves the day nearly every time.

Erin Munoz is another local product; only she still lives here. Munoz' stock and trade is contemporary Christian fare and she certainly excels at such as her only release is Always Christmas, a collection of holiday fare. But 'tis the season and all that, so hearing a bit of X-mas tuneage only seems par for the course.

And, lastly, the single-named Emmeline opens things up and her straight-ahead take on folk/rock may actually be the best thing on this bill--which is saying something. Also from Dallas, the diminutive Emmeline has a sincere quality to her music that sets her apart from your standard coffee house beat poet. Her best songs, such as "I Could Be Good" and "The Fact of the Matter," ring out like simple statements of honesty.

Tonight's triple-header should make for a nice way to get the holiday festivities started.
