We're admittedly a little D-Town Boogie-focused this weekend, what with the NBA All-Star Game in town and all the local hip-hop events planned around it in hopes of busting the scene out of its regional bubble. The way to do that--or so says every local hip-hop proprietor from Play-N-Skillz to Dorrough and Treal Lee & Prince Rick--is to get Dallas past its specifically instructional-dance-embracing days. Which brings us to the Def Jam-signed, Fort Worth-based, Prairie View A&M-attending Bone, whose debut single "Homegurl," may be a club banger, but isn't an instructional dance song.

And that puts him in line, area emcees agree, to follow the success of others who've taken the same path before him (like Dorrough and Treal Lee & Prince Rick) and further put Dallas on the map as a viable hip-hop market.

For what it's worth, I'm kind of in love right now with the slow-moving club song. Sue me--I'm a sucker for a good beat. Oh, and the above video's not too bad either, featuring cameos from DJ Drop, Big Hoodboss and other Dallas Boogie scene luminaries.
