Not a lot going on, music-wise, this inaugural evening in our area, but there are a few worthy performers out there who could help you celebrate Obamamania...

  • Chance Anderson is a youthful, roots rocker from Lewisville (via Empire, Oklahoma) in the vein of Steve Earle. Anderson plays tonight at the Back Porch Grill in Grapevine and his workingman earnestness should fit the mood well. Songs like "Deal With It" and "This Town" have an edginess that should get better with each beer.
  • Mo Robson brings his style of roots to Adair's tonight. Robson, who hails from Denton, is a bit more anthemic than Anderson, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Songs like "Amarillo Sand" and "Even Angels Fall" drip with a pathos that should gain the band some significant, mainstream country radio airplay.
  • For a more multicultural flair, Mi Son Mi Son Mi Son brings its flashy brand of Tejano to Dan's Silver Leaf. Hell, with demographics changing like they are, it's possible that future inaugurations will be held in Spanish. This is as good of a chance as any to celebrate the inauguration in a language other than English.
