If you don't mind driving the 92 miles between Dallas and Tyler, there's a nice line up set for the Southbound Sound Music Festival, which is set to take place on Saturday, May 8, at the Texas Rose Horse Park located at 14078 State Highway 110 N.
The all day festival will feature (among others) Joe Ely, Hayes Carll, Todd Snider, Old 97's and Denton's Rodney Parker and 50 Peso Reward.
That's a pretty awesome line up of roots/Americana acts. And you can take them all in for a meager $20.
Gates open at noon and no coolers will be allowed. And, sure, May 8 is Election Day, but after I vote, I plan on heading to Tyler, downing a few cold ones and taking in what Steve Earle properly refers to as "real music." Dunno about you...
