The NBA All-Star Game next weekend won't just cast the spotlight on athletes. Dallas-area rappers have had those dates circled on their calendars since the city was chosen, as Pete's D-Town Boogie article explains.
The hard work is starting to pay off, as MTV affiliate network MTV Jams will air "Texas All-Star Day" tomorrow. The program will feature videos from and interviews with Bun B, Devin the Dude, Chamillionaire, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, and more--including Dallas' own Dorrough and Play-N-Skillz, according to this press release. But it looks like that's just the tip of the iceberg, as AwkQuarius, Pikahsso's and Tahiti's post-PPT hip hop duo, announced that they were interviewed for the program as well. Along with those better-known names are newcomers such as Dallas rappers Faddy Daddy, Big Hoodboss and Play-N-Skillz protege Inertia.
And there's good news for those who can't sit through more than 30 seconds of typical MTV programming without wishing they'd been born before the invention of television: the special was produced by renowned director Dr. Teeth, who created Dorrough's "Ice Cream Paint Job" video.
