In this week's paper, Eric Grubbs catches up with OK Go frontman Damian Kulash and talks, among other things, about the band's DIY approach to its music videos (like the above, recently released, Rube Goldberg-inspired "This Too Shall Pass" take)--and its former label's issues with the band's ideals on those fronts.
"I sort of thought of us as a DIY band with the label being one of our tools," vocalist/guitarist Damian Kulash says. Since its March 1 release, the above music video has amassed almost 13 million views. Not too shabby. And certainly a fine explanation behind the band's having sold out its show at the Granada Theater tonight well in advance.
