Doug Davis caught up with Jamie Lidell recently in advance of the genre-blending blue-eyed soul and electro artist's upcoming gig at the Granada Theater tomorrow night. Read the fruits of Davis' labor, as saeen in this week's print edition, right here--but pay special attention to this telling quote, which aptly describes Lidell's current headspace, as well as the kind of offering you can expect at tomorrow night's show:
"I am a bit of a musical schizophrenic," Lidell says. "On this record [the May-released Compass], I made a deliberate effort to avoid pandering to the expectations of myself, to critics and the audience."
As such, you can expect to hear more than just the soul sounds captured in the above clip for "Another Day" tomorrow night when Lidell's backed with a five-piece band.

And you can see it for free, too. The Granada's been kind enough to pass along two free pairs of passes to tomorrow night's show for us to hand out to DC9 readers. Want one of the pairs? Find out how to win them after the jump.

To win the free pairs of passes, just be among the first to people to shoot me an email, starting right now, with the words "The Golden Compass" in the subject line, and you're in. Good luck!

Update: Contest is over. Congrats to our winners!
