Sure, most people wait until Thanksgiving to pull out the Christmas tree. But not The Polyphonic Spree.

Tim DeLaughter's giant band has announced its ninth Holiday Extravaganza show. The show, which will feature The Spree along with a few other acts (including We're Not Dudes and Syncopated Ladies), will return to its original home this year at The Lakewood Theater on Saturday, December 10. And, The Spree will play two sets this time, perhaps as a make-up for not having an extravaganza last year -- one Christmas set, and one rock 'n' roll set.

Tickets are available for $25 at Good Records or on the Lakewood Theater ticket site. Also: If you're under four years old, you get in free. But we're kind of shocked you're reading this blog because sometimes we curse.

In other show announcements news, if you were unable to get tickets to St. Vincent's two sold-out shows at The Kessler Theater, you won't need tickets for her in-store performance at Good Records on Sunday, October 23, at 3 p.m. Just get there early. As always, this in-store is free to attend.

Lastly, remember how it didn't rain all summer until Explosions In The Sky were supposed to perform outdoors at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, thus canceling the show? Well, the band has been rescheduled at the same venue on Friday, October 28. And just to be on the safe side, they'll perform indoors to the Winspear Opera House. Tickets can be purchased for $45 at ATTPAC's website.
