It's already been a heck of a year for Denton's Seryn. Right around the turn of the calendar year, after numerous delays, the band finally got around to releasing their anticipated debut record, This Is Where We Are. And the sprawling, uplifting affair, the disc proved well worth the wait, deservedly being placed at the receiving end of a wide array of praise.
The folks at Paste magazine have been particularly supportive -- after having already named Seryn's SXSW performance as their favorite of the festival, the magazine recently named the band's song "We Will All Be Changed" as their seventh favorite from 2011 so far, putting the still-fresh-faced band in the company of bands such as Fleet Foxes, Iron & Wine, Lykke Li and Peter, Bjorn & John.
But the year's not even half over yet -- and, with a west coast tour slated for June, and a Midwest tour slated for July, the band's still got plenty of room for further growth down the line. Their most immediate next hurdle? Celebrating the release of their debut album on limited edition 180-gram white vinyl, as they're doing this very weekend with a handful of shows, including a free in-store performance at 3 p.m. tomorrow on the AstroTurf at Good Records.
In advance of tomorrow's show, the find folks at Seryn's label, Spune Records, have been kind enough to pass along a free prize pack of Seryn goodies -- their debut album on CD and also on white vinyl -- for one lucky DC9 reader to grab for free at tomorrow's show. Want the package? Hit the jump to find out how to win it.
Want the prize pack? OK: Be the first person to shoot me an email, starting right now, with the words "There Is Where We Were" in the subject line, and it's yours. Good luck!
