Dude has been making music for 25 years!  A pioneer of grunge, Cornell was the vocalist (and drummer up until 1986) for Seattle-based band Soundgarden. After the group disbanded in 1997, Cornell went on to work with former Rage Against the Machine members (sans vocalist Zack de la Rocha) in Audioslave. Today, he's doing his own thang.

Meanwhile, did you know that Soundgarden was named after a public work of art in Seattle made of pipes? Says seattle.gov: "This installation features pipes that generate muted tones, with the pitch dependent on the direction and velocity of the wind." Go figure. Anyway, here's Cornell on Saturday night...

The Academy Is... @ The House of Blues (Pontiac Garage), Sunday, Mar. 29
Comin' atcha from the Windy City, The Academy Is... has been steeling teenage hearts since 2005. The Chi-town quintet's third album, Fast Times at Barrington High, sold 35,000 copies in its first week, debuted at No. 17 on the Billboard 200, and was named the 46th best album of 2008 by Rolling Stone Magazine. The band's currently headlining an acoustic tour with This Providence, Empires and Evan Taubenfeld.

"Classified" is off of their 2005 debut album...

Mudvayne @ The Palladium, Saturday, Mar. 28
Mudvayne and The Academy Is... share one similarity. They're both from Illinois.

Other than that, they're pretty much nothing alike. Mudvayne formed in 1996 and has sold nearly three million copies of its four albums in the United States. The band is set to release its fifth studio album at some point in 2009. This clip reminds me of
a show I went to in February. Amidst Mudvayne's loud, chaotic stage performance, I can still hear distinct musical qualities and elements. Really, that's all I've ever asked for.

Black Tie Dynasty @ Granada, Saturday, Mar. 28
Didn't get to say your goodbyes to Black Tie Dynasty on Saturday? Well, these Fort Worth rockers are officially kaput now. Watch this video and check out Gloria Levario' slideshow to relive the glory days. Just try not to get too emotional...
