It’s one thing for Jakob Dylan to skip Dallas, and I know we get Tom Waits soon and Steely Dan in the near future, but this sucks: Legendary roots rock act Los Lobos has just released its upcoming tour itinerary, and the closest the band will come to the Metroplex is a Labor Day show in Houston. Worse news: The opening act is Texican trio Los Lonely Boys.

That’s a damn good double bill that folks in Virginia, Florida, California, Colorado, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan will get to see. It’s been a couple of years since Los Lobos has released an album and the tours have become less and less frequent, so it’s quite a shame that fans will have to make the road trip to Houston to catch the band.

That appearance is part of the Texas Music Festival (full line-up after the jump), which means a truncated set and the standard festival headaches and parking nightmares. Previous stops in Dallas have always been well-attended, raucous affairs, making the snub particularly confusing. Perhaps some brave soul can shout out a request for “Will the Wolf Survive” at Donald Fagan or Tom Waits. --Darryl Smyers
