Get Pumped Up or Beat Up at This Weekend's Europa Games Get Fit & Sports Expo

Is getting sand kicked in your face at the beach by a hulking mass of muscles still a common trope? We're assuming that such unbelievably rude behavior has been drummed out of polite society along with cell phones that you can only transport in a briefcase, neon colored clothing and Mummar al-Gaddafi.

If such a thing has ever happened to you, chances are you'll be able to find him or her this weekend at the Dallas Convention Center. They are hosting the annual Europa Games and Get Fit & Sports Expo, a weekend gathering of athletic competition and training. So if you can't douse them in the face with a big bucket of beach sand, you can at least bulk up and square off with them on an even level.

The expo kicks off on Friday, May 9 and runs through Saturday, May 10 with a two-day "Throwdown" in which literally the strongest will only survive as they run through a series of strength-testing, weightlifting challenges in order to win the big $30,000 grand prize. There are additional challenges available if you need a lot of money to replace the protein powder you choke down on a daily basis, such as a $10,000 obstacle course challenge, a $5,000 grappling tournament, a $10,000 wrestling championship, a powerlifting tournament, a martial arts tournament and even an arm wrestling contest. We really hope they offer a special award to the competitor who makes the most "Stallone-ish" face while straining their muscles for glory.

The most exciting sounding event is the two-day "Super Fight Weekend" tournament featuring two martial arts tournaments including a kickboxing showdown starting at 7 p.m. on Friday and a pro-mixed martial arts tournament starting at 5 p.m. Saturday.
