It's his JFK moment, and local outsider artist Clay Stinnett is commemorating the day by adding flames to his collection of Big Tex paintings. He's a huge fan of the iconic cowboy, and has been posting the pics on his Facebook page in rapid-fire progression. We got curious and emailed him asking how he was knockin' em out so quick. Here's his answer:
To disspell any weird thoughts or questions about me setting the damn thing on fire, i will tell you i am as shocked as anyone. I have been making big tex paintings for the last month or so to sell at flea markets, cuz, well you know, tis the season....i just happened to have ten of them for the doublewide shindig tomorro, and added fire.
The shindig in question is the Double Wide Flea market, where locals know they can find Stinnett's work each month. If you need to fill the empty place in your heart with a Big Tex painting, you can get one of the idol, set to flambe, tomorrow afternoon. RIP, Tex.
