Dallas Comedy House took a bath in funny pheromones then baited in talent from across the country for this year's Dallas Comedy Festival, which runs from March 27 through April 1. The lineup looks slammin,' and we'll have interviews with the comedians up until the fest kicks off, so that you can get to know these folks a little better before you spend an evening in their company. Until then, here's a quick run-down; consider it foreplay for your funny bone.
FrankenMatt
Alone they are Frank Caeti (MadTv, Second City Chicago, Reno 911) and Matt Craig (Second City Hollywood, Writer for SNL), but when the universe congeals and their powers fuse they become FrankenMatt, a two-headed sketch monster. Each will teach workshops during DCF, as well as performing. (Warning: This pair might seduce you by wearing spandex.)
Paul Varghese Stand-up comedian and Dallas local Paul Varghese is one of this year's highlights. The Observer voted him "Best Stand-up Comic" in '09 and he hasn't slowed down since. (We're so proud.) He's been on Comedy Central's "Live at Gotham," NBC's "Last Comic Standing" and Showtime's "Russell Peters Presents."
Dasariski Whether smashed together in the long-form improv troupe Dasariski, or broken down into parts, Bob Dassie, Rich Talarico and Craig Cackowski have partied on more than a few stages. All are active in the Los Angeles comedy scene through teaching and performing with other improv and sketch troupes. (Dassie moonlights with A.S.S.S.S.C.A.T.)
This is just a teaser of the Dallas Comedy Festival lineup; there's a lot of others performing during the week-long run that includes workshops as well as sketch, improv and stand-up acts. Visit the website for more details and to purchase an all-access pass.
