Studio DTFU is curating a new jam called Shoop, but lest there be any confusion, it is not, in fact, an homage to Cher or Whitney. And, while the term "shoop" can likely be connected to an obscure and physically puzzling sex act (like almost everything else found on UrbanDictionary.com), our sources tell us it's what all the kids are saying to describe that which is digitally manipulated by Photoshop.

Last night, Studio DTFU owners/artists-in-residence Justin Hunter Allen and Lucy Kirkman put out a call for submissions from local artists who produce "contemporary digital images highlighting the unique visual qualities inherent to digital media."

Anyone is eligible to submit by the June 29 deadline, and there is no entry fee. Go here for full details.

With Dallas increasingly more open and informed with regard to new media, we can't wait to see what happens at the July 13 opening. Per the ladies below, when it comes to digital art, we Don't know how you do the voodoo that you do / So well it's a spell, hell, makes [us] wanna shoop shoop shoop
