The redo of the once-deteriorating Embarcadero Building at Fair Park was among the recipients of Preservation Dallas's 2006 Preservation Achievement Awards; so too were The Big Thicket at White Rock Lake, the Belmont Hotel, the restoration of SMU's Dallas Hall Dome and Rotunda and ARCHITEXAS's job well done restoring the Cathedral Santuario de Guadalupe tower downtown.
Also on the list was a lesser-known property: 8534 Eustis Avenue, among four residential restorations and rehabs feted by Preservation Dallas. The honor was given to owner Todd Allen.
But this morning's New York Times gives us this heads-up: It's on the market. The paper included the mid-century modern just up Lakeland Drive from White Rock Lake in its round-up of what you can buy for $260,000 in Dallas, Chicago and Memphis. Built in '52 and rehabbed in '06 (naturally), it's not quite the steal of the Memphis four-bedroom. Still. I highly recommend the virtual tour. But does the furniture come with?
