Looks like it's Sportsy Thursday 'round here. So, then, from puck to ball ...

Back in December we broke the news that the Dallas Desperados were on the comeback trail, along with the rest of an Arena Football League sidelined during the '09 season. Turns out, the team that's scheduled to return to the American Airlines Center on April 30 won't bear that familiar moniker; guess Jerry Jones didn't want to part with the name. (There will, though, be some former Desperados on the team, among them Will Pettis and Duke Pettijohn.) And so, introducing ... Your ... Dallas ... Vigilantes!

Stephan Evans, spokesman for the club, was kind enough to send along the new team logo (guess it's that kind of a day). He writes that "the Vigilantes name was carefully selected and reflects the strong, take-no-prisoners approach of an organization steeped in championship football tradition," referring to owner Peter C. "Woody" Kern, the Pilot Point resident who owned the AFL's Tampa Bay Storm. As for the logo, that's all Mike Martin, rock-and-roll poster artist.
