That's what The Hockey News is insisting today -- that Brett Hull's done as co-general manager of Your Dallas Stars. On the very day owner Tom Hicks is scheduled to meet with his peoples to discuss the fate of Sloppy Seconds Avery, THN.com says Hull -- who brought Avery to Dallas in the first place -- will be moved elsewhere within the organization, somewhere he can't do any further damage to a team rebounding from the hire following Avery's six-game sitdown courtesy National Hockey League commissioner Gary Bettman. Notes Ken Campbell:
Several NHL sources have indicated that within the next couple of weeks the Stars' co-GM experiment with Brett Hull and Les Jackson will be history. Speculation is Hull will move to another area of the organization and will be out of the decision making process when it comes to hockey matters.Wait, geez, that has to count for something. --Robert Wilonsky
Hull's insistence on signing Avery in the face of opposition from everyone else in the hockey department will undoubtedly be a factor in the move, but sources also say Hull isn't really fulfilling the GM duties beyond watching the Stars play.
