It started last night when 24-year-old Carlos Valencia Jr. got into a fight at a house in the 5400 block of Singleton Boulevard. Police haven't said what they were fighting about, just that Valencia ended up pistol-whipping the roommate.

Police showed up at 11 this morning. The injured roommate left the house, as did a friend who was also inside, but Valencia refused to come out and barricaded himself inside the house with the pistol and police weren't sure what else.

They brought in a SWAT team and, as a precaution, shut down several blocks of Singleton. Valencia responded by firing on the armored SWAT vehicle, striking it but doing little damage, as you can see.

Eventually, after the house fell silent, police sent in a robot inside the house to scope things out.

The video it sent back showed Valencia dead of a gunshot wound. Armed SWAT officers followed just in case, but the house was otherwise empty. Police say they are still investigating.
