Wired's Danger Room blog this morning visits the SMU campus, where Electrical Engineering Associate Professor Marc Christensen is helping the military create a powerful paper-thin camera that uses low-resolution sensors to create a hi-res image. Notes David Hambling, "troops and unmanned aircraft could be the first to benefit" from the invention, code name "Panoptes" after a figure from Greek mythology. Back in March, SMU provided some details; Wired has much more today, including what "Panoptes" stands for: "Processing Arrays of Nyquist-limited Observations to Produce a Thin Electro-optic Sensor." Duh.
