Several Friends of Unfair Park have shot us e-mails wondering precisely when Bill Wisener's opening his new joint on the Southside of Lamar, as his Spring Valley Road location's going adios tomorrow. Well, Bill tells us it'll pretty much be open this week -- kind of, sort of. See, it's not exactly set up yet, but as anyone who's been in the old store will tell you, it wasn't exactly a model of organization, which was part of its estimable charm. "It'll be open when I'm there," Bill tells Unfair Park. "And I'll be there at the end of the week."
Like I said yesterday, we'll have an essay about Bills Records and Tapes tomorrow from Jeff Liles, who's been making his doc about Bills, The Last Record Store, since...uh...forever? Till then, here's another terrific outtake from the doc-in-progress, this one featuring Daniel Johnston performing his classic "Casper the Friendly Ghost" during an in-store at Bills. --Robert Wilonsky
