As reported earlier this week, Texas Democrats love John Edwards -- to the tune of $1.5 million in campaign donations raised from January to March 2007, which put him second overall in Texas to the $2-million man, a very flip-flopping and fear-mongering Rudy Giuliani. Of course, they're both doing well because they have big-time Dallas boys behind them: Giuliani has Tom Hicks as his Lone Star money man, whilst John Edwards has local attorney Fred Baron on his team as his national finance chairman. And having Baron on your side also has its substantial perks, we learn today:

Democrat John Edwards, for example, regularly uses a jet owned by Dallas trial lawyer Fred Baron, who is also the finance chairman of his presidential campaign. His campaign pays first-class rate for those flights.
Of course, he has to pay first-class rates. That's the law. --Robert Wilonsky
