This morning, yours truly and a few other well-known media cheapskates were at NorthPark Center for the 9 a.m. opening bell of the annual Billy Reid 75-percent-off warehouse sale, which we'd thought was no mas following Reid's decision exactly one year ago today to shutter the corporate office on Canton Street. The postcard arrived this week bearing news of its return to the NorthPark outpost -- today through Saturday, first come first served.

But those customers who've filled their closets with the Art Institute of Dallas fashion design and merchandising grad's cast-offs, usually available for pennies on the pound at these warehouse sales, left disappointed -- most, empty-handed. At best the selection's a tenth of what it used to be -- and at twice the price. So this is how you save money on clothes: You don't buy any.
