At the intersection of quaint coffee shop and lovable bakery lies Boulangerie, a new project from the folks behind Village Baking Co., who have been providing Dallas with crusty baguettes for years from their commercial bakery on University Avenue.
The new address holds much more than a much needed storefront. Bread is baked on-site and turned into delicious and simple sandwiches that can improve just about any lunch. Place your order and watch the bakery employees portion and shape dough while you wait for your own selection to get wrapped in paper with blue and white twine.
Of course there's more to Boulangerie than bread, and the bakery delves deeply into the French baking tradition. Canelé, pain au chocolate, fruit tarts, eclairs and other pastries are waiting to punctuate any moment with a sweet ending.
On weekends the doors stay open late in the hopes that your craving for buttery, toasted pastry will strike again in the evening. If the hunger calls, you should go with it. There are far worse ways to end a day.
