Post Malone has had a pretty good run of things in 2015. The Grapevine-bred rapper (and, in a past life, Bob Dylan fan) came out of nowhere during the winter to score a viral hit with his song "White Iverson." A trip back home and a major-label record deal later, and the L.A. transplant has another feather to add to his cap: A feature on the latest Kanye West track.
As he is wont to do, West dropped a brooding, autotune-heavy track coinciding with his show at New York Fashion Week (or #NYFW, if you're into the whole brevity thing). The show is titled, what else, Yeezy Season 2 and the track, which has been brought to the masses thanks to some intrepid internet pirates and some slightly more reputable hiphop bloggers, was first filed under "Untitled" before being dubbed "Fade."
The song features a guest spot from rapper Ty Dolla $ign and, more importantly to Dallas hip hop fans, none other than Malone on the autotune-heaviest parts. (Logical, given how prominently autotune features in "White Iverson.") A spare and menacing dance track that could easily fit in at an '80s fashion party in New York (hey, wait a minute), Malone's crackling vocal adds an emotional contrast to the otherwise chic and cool track.
Along with the feature came a personal invitation to West's fashion show Thursday. The new ties with the House of West may have come about when Kylie Jenner had her people get in touch with Malone's people to request the honor of his presence and performance at her 18th Birthday Party last month. See? Even 'Ye needs young people to help him stay in touch with what the cool kids are listening to.

In the video below, Malone makes it known that he first met West at Jenner's party and that Ye was Malone's first choice in artists he wanted to work with next. No definite word on whether "Fade" will make the cut for West's upcoming album SWISH, which currently has no official release date. In the meantime, you can watch the entire Yeezy Season 2 fashion show here, if that's your, uh, thing. (And why wouldn't it be?)
Album nod or not, getting some time in Camp Kanye is a new peak in the already swift rise to fame for Malone, who's already had to deal with some criticism this summer in spite of only having officially released a few songs. West's blessing will only open more doors for the 20-year-old in the coming years after "White Iverson" blew the first few open.
Last month he signed with Republic Records, which is a division of Universal and is also home to Lorde, Florence + the Machine, Gotye and Kid Kudi. He'll be touring Europe through October, which is probably the next best thing he could do after having headlined Trees earlier this year. Who knows, 2016 could be the year of the Post Man, for real.
