If you’ve been waiting for Janet Jackson’s much-anticipated return to the road, you’re going to have to wait a little bit longer. Announced by the American Airlines Center earlier today, Jackson’s Dallas date, originally scheduled for January 24, has been postponed until the summer.
In fact, Jackson’s entire Unbreakable tour has been delayed. In October, Jackson tweeted that she would begin rescheduling shows in Salt Lake City and Denver in order to rest her vocal cords on “doctor’s orders.” Originally, the plan was just to reschedule a few shows while Jackson recuperated, but a more recent tweet from the artist suggests that she may need surgery to correct the issues with her vocal cords.
Shortly after the tweet, the American Airlines Center sent an email to ticket holders announcing that the show had been rescheduled. All tickets originally purchased for the January 24 date will still be valid for Jackson's rescheduled appearance, and if you didn't snag one the first time around, tickets are still available for the show that will now take place July 15.
Last year, rumors swirled that Jackson had developed a cancerous growth on her vocal cords, which some media outlets speculated could be throat cancer. Earlier this month, Jackson denied those rumors, and said via Twitter that her doctors were treating her vocal issues and that she’d be back on the road as soon as she’s well.
Hopefully Jackson’s case of vocal polyps (or whatever the issue is) won’t be like Adele, who was forced to cancel tour dates that were never rescheduled back in 2011. Assuming that all goes well, Janet Jackson will make her appearance in Dallas at the American Airlines Center on July 15, 2016.
