Quick, name the last Coldplay song you listened to. Well okay, it's been a little while, hasn't it? It's been a quiet stretch the past couple years for (one of the many) band(s) formerly known as "The Next Radiohead," what with the conscious uncoupling and all. Chris Martin and co. didn't even hit the road to promote their last album, 2014's relatively low-key Ghost Stories. But that's changing this year, complete with a newly announced tour that will bring the Brits to Dallas — well, Arlington — for a date at AT&T Stadium.
Coldplay's last tour came three albums ago, in support of 2011's Mylo Xyloto, which last brought them to North Texas for a pair of dates at American Airlines Center in 2012. They just dropped yet another album at the end of last year, A Head Full of Dreams, which they'll be supporting this year starting in a week and a half when they play the halftime show at Super Bowl 50. Later in the summer, however, they'll add a short run of shows in major cities like New York, LA and Chicago, with the Jerryworld stop on August 27.
Between A Head Full of Dreams going No. 1 on iTunes and selling more than 3 million copies in less than two months, it seems safe to say Coldplay still have plenty of starpower, and their absence from touring should do nothing but help move tickets this time around. Speaking of which, presale tickets go on sale tomorrow, Friday, January 29, at 10 a.m. at citiprivatepass.com. General sale tickets go on sale next Friday, February 5, at 10 a.m. at livenation.com.
