Leading up to September's Best of Dallas® 2016 issue, we're sharing (in no particular order) our 100 Favorite Dishes, the Dallas entrées, appetizers and desserts that really stuck with us this year.
When The Cedars got itself an Alamo Drafthouse earlier this year, the neighborhood got an added bonus: Vetted Well, a bar and restaurant above the movie theater. With a big beer selection, private karaoke rooms and a patio with a gorgeous view of the downtown skyline, this spot has proven popular with more than just movie-goers.
The menu is filled with mostly stick-to-your-ribs fare like steak and potatoes, a pork chop with a bacon-cheddar waffle and a chicken-fried chicken drizzled in local honey. Coated in a crunchy Ritz Cracker crust, this CFC was equal parts juicy, crunchy and sweet with a side of frisée coated in champagne vinaigrette and a German-style potato salad with fresh dill. The world needs more German potato salad — it's lighter and more vibrant than its classic American counterpart, and we'd be happy to see it slapped on a paper plate next to a backyard-grilled burger anytime.
