Many bands sing about love. The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players sing about eggs. They also sing about cheese fondue, fast-food chains, old ladies, public executions, board meetings, company reports and trips to Japan. But wait, it gets weirder. The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players, unlike the Ramones, are a real family. Dad Jason plays guitar, keyboards and sings, and 10-year-old daughter Rachel drums, plays bass and provides backup vocals. Mom Tina runs the slide projector--yes, there really is one--and designs the costumes. The songs are simple ditties written around the collection of slides they've accumulated at estate sales and arranged in seemingly no particular order. They're not exactly clever or complex, but the point is seeing goofy songs performed by a dorky dad and his too-cool kid. Plus all the pictures of a family vacation--without all the arguments.
