Now that Paula Abdul is no longer on American Idol, there is no reason for me to watch. Turns out, when you're not taking a slug of beer every time she cries, slurs or stands to applaud, the show is much less enjoyable. But Paula or no Paula, Idol is still one of the most popular shows on television, at least according to my mother and her friends. They can't wait to shell out the big bucks for the American Idol Live! Tour, hitting American Airlines Center (2500 Victory Ave.) Monday. The top 10 finalists from Season 9--Aaron Kelly, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, Didi Benami, Katie Stevens, Lee DeWyze, Michael Lynche, Siobhan Magnus and Tim Urban--are scheduled to perform, and they've had several months to practice, so hopefully no one forgets any words to any songs or anything like that. In case you didn't catch this season either, DeWyze was the winner, Bowersox was the runner-up and Tim Urban was the hottie that the housewives in Plano spent hours discussing 'round the kitchen table after a Skinny Girl Margarita or four. Sorry Mom, I know I promised I wouldn't tell. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $40.50 to $70.50. For more information, visit americanidol.com.
