From Catholic Sacred Heart of Jesus imagery to the classic sweetheart tattoo, the human heart has inspired artists for as long as there have been artists. But my favorite piece of heart art isn't a painting or a sculpture. Rather, it's the moment in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom when the evil child-enslaver Mola Ram rips the still-beating heart out of a human-sacrifice victim and causes it to burst into flame. But maybe some Dallas artist at the 16th annual El Corazon exhibit, a popular show created and by curator Jose Vargas, can impress me even more with photograph, sculpture, painting or mixed-media artistic interpretation of the ticker. The exhibit is free and open to the public through March 6 at The Bath House Cultural Center, 521 E. Lawther Drive. Call 214-670-8749 or visit bathhousecultural.com for more information.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Feb. 18. Continues through March 6, 2010
