It's a tired old saying that one man's trash is another man's treasure. But Marilyn Waligore's The In/Materiality of the Everyday has been able to make that statement mean something new and exciting. In the case of Waligore's digital photography exhibition, the artist is able to take recyclable items such as discarded plastic or a tin can and transport them into a reinvented state of beauty. In one photograph, a tin can's smooth, almost satiny ripples mimic the luxurious theatrical stage drapes that provide its background. It's an artistic effort to show her appreciation of the ongoing trend of recycling and environmental awareness, but it also serves as a series of environmental portraits (pun not intended, but accepted) of items we have the opportunity to not waste, to reinvent through reuse. See Waligore's Everyday photos noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays through January 3 at the Bath House Cultural Center, 521 E. Lawther St. Visit bathhousecultural.com.
