Oh My Gouache

What do gouache, assemblages and ebullient figures have in common? Well, at least one thing: I have no idea what any of them are! But if you're an artistic person, I'm sure you do and that's probably why you'll be heading to see the three exhibits on display at Conduit Gallery, 1626 C Hi Line Drive, through July 19. James Michael Star's exhibit Little Victims features found objects (such as a glove mold and a wooden box) formed into "assemblages." Resident Birds, Carrie Marill's exhibit, explores her fascination with the medium of "gouache" on paper. And over in the project room, Japanese artist Takashi Iwasaki presents small-scale embroidered works featuring "ebullient figures" in his exhibition Embroidered Memories. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. For more information (from people who actually know what gouache is), call 214-939-0064 or go to conduitgallery.com.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: July 4. Continues through July 19, 2008
